Inaugural Lecture - Ahmed, Quidant, & Schutzius
Prof. Ahmed, Prof. Quidant, and Prof. Schutzius all gave their inaugural lectures on 12.10.2021. All three have research interests that intersect micro- and nanotechnology and as ERC grantees have cutting edge research.
Refresh Teaching - Authentic Tasks
In this Refresh Teaching event, Prof. Alaifari (D-MATH), Prof. Razavi (D-ITET), and Prof. Schutzius showed how they address this question in their teaching: “How can I get my students to engage more with one another in critical discussions of the research literature?”
Golden Owl
Prof. Tom Schutzius was awarded the “Golden Owl” by VSETH, ETH Zurich's students association, for excellent teaching.
Preventing limescale sustainably
Thomas Schutzius has been appointed Assistant Professor for Multiphase Thermofluidics and Surface Nanoengineering at the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering. On 1 February 2020 the specialist in multiphase thermofluidics and nanostructured surfaces will take up his position. We introduce the 33-year-old American in an interview.
Assistant Professor for Multiphase Thermofluidics and Surface Nanoengineering
Dr. Tom Schutzius, currently Senior Scientist at ETH Zurich, was appointed as Assistant Professor for Multiphase Thermofluidics and Surface Nanoengineering. He conducts research into thermofluidics, surface science and surface engineering, as well as energy conversion processes.
ERC Starting Grant
Dr. Tom Schutzius has been awarded the prestigious ERC Starting Grant to support his research on understanding the fundamentals of limescale formation on surfaces (scaling) and using this knowledge to rationally engineer "scale-phobic" surfaces for applications at the water-energy nexus.
